Margarita Gonzalez-Mendoza joined the Children Reading Foundation of the Mid-Columbia in November 2017. Having 10+ years of experience working at non-profits, she believes that if you do what you love, you never "work". Margarita finds the most joy in knowing that her work will have a positive long-lasting impact the community, as she feels that is exactly what we do at the Reading Foundation.

Margarita moved to Washington State from Mexico in 1991. She loves working in and with with the Hispanic community because, " I understand their culture and their struggles". Margarita also has four children: two boys, 14 year old twins, and two girls 25 and 15. She also loves dancing, reading, cooking, and socializing.

Favorite Book:

I have many book that I love, but one with great memories is Love you Forever by Robert Munsch. I love this book because I can still sing the song from the book to my children, and I can adapt the words as best fits the moment. My oldest son gets sentimental and always hugs me strong when I sing it to him.
